About the Venusian Church
The Venusian Church is
named after the Goddess Venus, the Goddess of love, sex
and beauty. It was founded in 1975 by a group of people
looking for an alternative to the prevailing religious
options. Their intention was to create a new religious
possibility for the future. Their intention was to
create a non-authoritarian, non-dogmatic religion which
would allow for the presence and experience of Divinity
rather than a belief in Divinity. Their intention was
ontological in nature and was to be accomplished through
a unique religious technology sometimes referred to as (Sacred
Space) technology.
In 1978 the
Church began to provide public events in Seattle's First
Avenue pornography district. The Venusians' position
that "Sex is Divine" created a great deal of attention
and controversy and caused the Church to close its
public activities and restrict activities to members
only. Most of the Church’s activities are done in
private and operated only for members and guests. The
Church has made its facilities available to other groups
from time to time due to its policy of community service
and its desire to support other like-minded groups. In
the recent past, church facilities have been used for
Native American sweat-lodge activities; Pagan religious
rituals; an assortment of New-Age activities; an Osho
Meditation Center and an Intentional Community. The
Church is supportive of religious diversity and welcomes
other organizations to use its facilities as openings
permit.
The Church
has sponsored workshops and seminars for its members and
the public. These activities are directed toward
personal transformation and promoting higher
consciousness which expand the wholeness of our
humanity. We have in the past provided our seminars to
the inmates of local penitentiaries and to certain
sex-offender programs.
The
Venusian theology is based upon a unique, sacred-space
technology which is capable of creating an ontological
transformation. In other words, the Venusian theology
is "spatial" rather than "conceptual.” The Church’s
mission is to create a sacred space rather than a sacred
belief. The difference is in sacred space theology
divinity is experienced, whereas in sacred beliefs
divinity becomes an abstract conceptualized idea.
For
example: If someone wanted to experience sleep, they
would turn down the lights, fluff up the pillow and
snuggle under the blankets. They would make an
environment (space) conducive to falling asleep. A
belief or a concept on the other hand, comes from
thinking about or reading about sleep. The difference
being the first is real, the second only a SYMBOL for
what is real.
The
presence of inner and outer FREEDOM forms an essential
ingredient in Venusian spatial theology. One's Divinity
is experienced only in an environment where people have
the freedom and the opportunity to be fully Self
expressed. It is this unique spatial theology of the
Venusian religion that makes Venusian Paradise a
possibility.
The
Venusian religion holds the point of view that sex is
divine for there is nothing living on this earth that is
not born of sex. We agree with the following quote from
OSHO:
"Man
cannot be separated from sex, he is born of it. God
has made the energy of sex the starting point of
creation. And great men have termed as sinful what
God does not consider as sin! If God considers sex
as sin, then there is no greater sinner than God in
this world, no greater sinner in this universe."
The
Venusian Church is concerned with:

Realigning our members with their sexuality so as to
undo the damage society and religion has done to our
most important spiritual resource.

Healing
our spirit by confronting the negative sexual
conditioning imposed without our consent.
-
Removing church/state’s legal interference with
people’s religious freedom.
In
pursuit of these goals, we are currently embarking on a
new mission called PARADISE NOW. Using the Internet as
our starting point, we are presenting a simulated
version of a visit to the Isle of Eros. Here a member is
taken through the steps of preparation for entry into
Venusian Paradise. He or she is given a Priest/Priestess
guide and led through:

Several levels of purification, deconditioning
and pleasuring in order to be ready for their
induction into the Spiritual/Erotic Arts.

The
Venusian theology and the practice of sacred
spatial technology.

The
knowledge of how to maintain their legal rights
and live free from unlawful government
interference.
The
Internet experience is in preparation for an actual
visit to the Venusian equivalent of the Isle of Eros.
There members who have advanced to the required level
will be given the opportunity to experience Venusian
Paradise.
The
Venusian Church consists of people from different
ethnic, political and religious backgrounds. Due to the
global nature of the Internet, it is expected we shall
soon have an influx of interested people from all over
the world. The membership at this time is limited to
adults only, but we are including programs for our
members’ children that will be informative,
thought-provoking and appropriate for minors and younger
people.
For the
last few years the Venusian Church has been keeping its
activities select and private. We are now at the point
where, in the interest of sharing our religious message,
we are opening up to the public once more. Through the
Internet and other programs we are developing, we plan
to present individuals our sex-positive religious
training to assist them in discovering a whole new level
of Being.
